Dunloy FC was formed in 1997 under the name of Bannview Rovers. The club was eventually allowed to adopt its rightful title of Dunloy Football Club in 2003.
The Club is based at McCamphill Park, Tullaghans Road Dunloy in association with Ballymoney Borough Council. The club tries to encourage young players from Dunloy and surrounding areas to come and play for the club. We also try to encourage anyone with a passion for the game to come and get involved with the club.
The club started as a morning junior team in the Coleraine Morning League and operated in that division from 1997 to 2002 claiming a first league title in the 2001/2002 season. In that year the club only lost one game which was the shield final, having already added the cup to our league title.
The club then progressed to the Coleraine Premier Division in the 2002/2003 season and added the league cup to our growing list of honours in our first year at this level.
In the 2003/2004 season more success was to follow when under the guidance of Simon Smith, the shield and cup double was secured. In the following season 2004/2005 we were narrowly denied our first league title having been beat by Portrush in our final game to finish second.
The ultimate success came in the 2005/2006 season when we finally lifted the Premier League Championship to complete the accomplishment of having won every trophy within the Coleraine League. We are one of only a few clubs to have accomplished this achievement.
In 2006 the club made a major decision and decided to apply for Intermediate status and application to the Ballymena and Provincial Intermediate Football League. This issue got much debate and as a nine year old club this was to be the biggest challenge undertaken so far but we achieved intermediate status and were accepted to the Ballymena and Provincial Intermediate Football League much to the credit of all players and members involved in the club as this was a very big achievement.
In the season 2006/2007, our first at intermediate level under the guidance of Charlie Scott we managed to get to the cup final which was not to be ours, after extra time we eventually lost to the then league champions (Raceview FC). In this year Dunloy finished 7th in the league, an achievement in itself.
The 2007/2008 season was our second season competing at Intermediate level and was one of the biggest for the club, finishing seventh in the Ballymena and Provincial Intermediate Football League. Dunloy FC again under the guidance of Charlie Scott also secured their first Intermediate trophy beating Raceview Football Club in the McReynolds Cup Final played at the Riada Stadium in Ballymoney. Dunloy FC also competed in the OGorman Cup final that same year but were narrowly defeated by Cookstown Olympic FC.
The 2008/2009 season was our third season competing at Intermediate level and again one of the biggest for the club as it was continually improving season by season due to the fantastic squad of players and members. Paul Baird and James Dixon took over the reigns from Charlie Scott and Dunloy FC went push the league leaders Mosside and Coleraine Crusaders all the way in the race for the league title eventually finishing third in the league, our highest finish ever which promises bigger and better things for Dunloy FC in the coming seasons.
